Sexually transmitted diseases (also known as STDs and once called venereal diseases or VD) are infectious diseases that spread from person to person through intimate contact. There is no background or age of guys and girls who are not affected by STDs who are having sex, it has no regard for socio-economic status.

Unfortunately, getting sexually trasmitted diseases is now a common teen-age occurence. Because teens are more at risk for getting some STDs, it's important to learn how to sufficiently protect yourself.

It's important to understand that STDs are more then an inconvenience. They're a serious health issue in the making. If untreated, the marjority of STDs can lead to permanent health concerns, such as infertility (losing the ability to have a baby) and even death (where HIV is concerned).
